A Poem by Pranam Abbi

Suspended in the sky

The half moon

While my headlights

Don't see the deer

Blood spatters on the windshield

The deer cracks it and off it goes

Into the darkness

I stop the machine

To investigate

Only to find, droplets seeping through the cracks

Onto my dashboard

Making it hard, not to notice

The peace in violence

When we are designed to survive

But, here i am

Trying to live

Trying to understand

Which memories get triggered

With which feelings

I sense, when there is a empirical data fed

To this mind

Build by trauma

I step back into the machine

Hold the steering wheel

Shift the gear

From neutral

And take sides

For I am not afraid

I,

Choose to accept and be accepted

Choose to feel and felt for

Choose to love and be loved

Choose to live
